Parkside PTA
The National PTA (over 7 million members) develops programs and the materials you need to conduct programs locally. It also provides numerous publications including OUR CHILDREN, one of the best parenting magazines available.
Maryland PTA (230,000 members) coordinates programs and provides resources throughout the state on behalf of children. They organize volunteers to represent PTA views in your state and federal legislature.
Our Local PTA (106 members at Parkside Elementary PTA last year) works independently to promote the welfare of children in our school and community. We work together with principals, superintendents, school boards and other community leaders to make sure your concerns are heard and needs are met. The Executive Board (elected officers listed below) and Board Council (which includes our Principal, Mrs. Patti Stevenson and 08/09 Teacher Representative - Mrs. Carol Andrews and Mrs. Phylis Sagal) organize our local Parkside PTA efforts. However, it is our chairpersons that conduct the “Lion’s Share” work of our PTA by overseeing committees, programs, and events. Thus, our Chairpersons are the champions of your PTA.
